Life in a Box
Boxes
by Kristy Hoover
Chapters of my life
are found within
these cardboard boxes.
Memories seep out of them,
Some good, some bad.
All of who I was
lies within boxes,
Be it a box in
my heart,
my mind
Or
Cardboard
I’ve lived my life in a box.
Going through the boxes,
Opening them up
Helps me get in touch with myself.
It hurts,
It is happy,
It is sad,
but in a strange way it is cathartic.
I spend so much time on the inside.
Inside all of these boxes
That it has caused me to loose touch
With who I am
And
What is truly important to me.
I’ve collected the past
And looked to the future,
But what I need
is this moment.
Right here,
Right now,
In reality
It is all I have.
Life is not meant
To be
Lived in a box.
